Biography
Most Reverend Callistus Chukwuma Valentine Onaga is the Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Nigeria, appointed by Pope Benedict XVI on February 9, 2009, and consecrated on May 2, 2009. Born on September 29, 1958, in Agbudu, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, he was ordained a priest on August 8, 1987. He holds a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from the University of Bonn, Germany. Before his episcopal appointment, Bishop Onaga served in various capacities, including Vicar General of the Diocese, Cathedral Administrator, and Deputy Director of the Catholic Institute for Development, Justice and Peace (CIDJAP). He is an active member of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria and the Association of Episcopal Conferences of Anglophone West Africa. Bishop Onaga is recognized for his commitment to pastoral care, social justice, and the spiritual development of the faithful in Enugu Diocese.
